File links sent via messages in Ailo are protected by email verification. When a link is more than 14 days old, the recipient needs to verify their email address to view the file. Links under 14 days old don't require verification.
How to access a secure file link
- Click the file link.
- Enter your email address when prompted.
- If it matches the email the file was sent to, you can view the file.
Multiple recipients
If the file was sent to more than one person, any of the original recipient email addresses will work.
Forwarded links
If someone forwards a file link, the new person will need to enter the email address the file was originally sent to. If they don't have it, the easiest option is to download the file and send it to them directly.
Sending files
Nothing changes about how you send files. You send messages and attachments the same way as before. Verification only applies on the recipient's side when opening older links.
Statements
Statements are handled separately. Most are sent as email attachments. The small number sent as links (for investors who haven't accepted terms) are protected by postcode verification — the recipient must enter the postcode of one of the investment properties in the portfolio to access the statement. Statement PDFs may also contain a link to a zip file with all of the relevant bills, which is protected by the same postcode verification.
